Mercedes Castro Corbat is a visual artist and contemporary jewellery designer from Argentina.
Trained as a visual artist her work has evolved into a wider practice where art, design and craft meet. Jewellery made her consider the fit and use of objects on the body in a practical way, creating pieces that have a strong visual impact, generating and investigating ideas and finding connections between concepts, materials and processes.
She teaches Accessory Design in the Fashion and Design career at the University of Buenos Aires. She graduated as a Professor of Painting & Drawing, postgraduate studies in new technologies, UNA. Visual arts, Kent Institute of Art & Design (UK), Art Administration, NYU (USA). She received grants from the National Fund for the Arts and Mecenazgo from the city of Buenos Aires.
